The
basic theory on the HSHM-PE fiber had been first proposed in 1930s.
However, it is till about 50 years later that the fiber could be
dissolve the ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene into a certain
solvent and then spray into spinning from the spinneret. During the
dissolving process, macromolecular chains originally entangled and
irregularly structured separate from one another and maintain the
state till the spinning fluid cools down and the spinning is formed.
During the subsequent fiber-drafting process, the PE macromolecule
comes to a higher degree of orientation and crystallization,
resulting in high strength and high module of the fiber (See Table
1).
In
1990s, the HSHM-PE fiber was commercially manufactured only in a few
highly developed countries and its total output is but thousands of
tons. Hunan ZTSA Limited is the
one after a few big companies in the world to acquire the exclusive
technology in producing commercially the HSHM-PE fiber. Recently,
product line with the annual production capacity of 200 tons has
been put into operation. The home market share will be estimated to
above 50 percent. Tested by Hunan Provincial Commission of Science
and Technology and the Stats Administration of Textile Industry, the
ZXT99HSHM-PE fiber and its product collections have been highly
assessed to rank the pilot in China and have reached the advanced
level of its international counterparts.
The ZTX99
HSHM-PE fiber is one of three major hi-tech fibers (specifically the
carbon fiber, the armied fiber and the HSHM-PE fiber) and the toughest
of all and its basic features are as follows:
●High strength: over 10 times stronger than
the high-quality steel;
●High modulus: next to the super-class carbon
fiber;
●Low density: less than lg/cm and floatable
on water.

From thc above tables,we can see that the ZTX99
HSHM—PE fiber is:
●worthy Of its name so far as its high functions
are concerned;
●highly resistive to collision and incision
thanks to its property in low rupture expansion and strong capacities
in high intensity,high rupture power and strong energy obsorption;
●lighter in weight and smaller insize,meanwhile,satisfactory
to the functional requirements.
Based on its advantageous properties, the HSHM-PE fiber has now
become one of the high-tech materials rapidly developed in the 21st century and wildly applied in
such fields as safety protection, aviation, spaceflight, navigation,
electronics, weapon,shipbuilding, building material, sports, medical
treatment and so on. Products made up of the fiber include bulletproof
jacket, ballistic helmet, financial vehicle, ballistic shield, tank,
naval armor protection board, parachute hawser, watercraft oceaneering
cordage, mountain-climbing rope, fishing net and tread, boat, gig
and arrow, pat, ski,man-made nearthrosis and ligament, safety protection
cover, anti-impact vessel and so on. With the development and popularization
of this technology, the ZTX99
HSHM-PE fiber will be applied to wide fields.
The ZTX99
HSHM-PE fiber is made of polyethylene whose molecular weight is high
and physical property is very good (See Table 6). Because it has high
crystallization and no active chemical genes to easily function with
other chemical reagents, the fiber exhibits the characteristics of
extraordinary advantages in resistance to water,
moisture, chemical, UV and mildew. It will not be melt or dissolved
in water, sea or other wet conditions.
●Anti-UV and free from any anti-UV pretreatment(See
Table 7);
●Anti-erosion, anti-acerbity and anti-alkali(See
Table 8);
●Extraordinary anti-abrasive, high modulus
but soft,with long longevity of deflection.
The melting point of the ZTX99
HSHM-PE fiber is between 144℃ and 152℃. The higher the temperature
is, the lower the strength and modulus will be, or the vice versa
below 0℃. As there is no brittle point at the temperature lower than
-150℃, the fiber can be applied at the temperature ranging from
-150℃
to 70℃ and there is no sharp decline of the fiber's property even
if it is exposed in short time on condition of high temperature.
